Rose Simmons
Rose began her love for dance when she was three years old at a Parks and Recreation summer dance program. When she was 8, she joined artistic dance Academy directed by Alene Quartana where she was exposed to acting, singing, mime, ballet and jazz. Two years later, she was discovered by Roger Van Fleteren (Associate Artistic director and Resident Choreographer of the Alabama Ballet) who was guest teaching at Charmaine Schick’s Studio of Dance in Roseville, MI. She began studying ballet with Charmaine Schick and Mr. Van Fleteren for the next 8 years.
During this time, she studied the ballet syllabus of Madame Natalie Krassovska under the direction of Charmaine Schick. As her dedication and respect for the art of dance grew, she studied jazz and tap to forward her career in the professional world of dance.
She has danced with many professional ballet companies programs such as Joffrey Ballet, Burkeley Ballet Theater, Marygrove College, and Aspen Ballet where she trained with Gretchen Ward (Ballet mistress of American Ballet Theatre) and received the most improved dancer award.
After High school she auditioned and joined Oakland Festival Ballet Company as a soloist under the direction of Cornelia Sampson where she performed roles in full length ballets and gained valuable performance and partnering experience.
After many dance related injuries, she decided to end her career as a ballerina and pass on what she learned to other aspiring dancers. Her current and past students will tell you how passionate she is about teaching and how much she loves her students. Her role as a teacher is to make every dancer respect the art of dance, keep striving for that higher star, and be the best they can be.
